Alert Kauai: Hurricane Lowell may bring 2 to 4 ft of storm-surge inundation and destructive waves to the Kauai and Niihau south and west shores. People in exposed oceanfront properties should act as soon as possible, before conditions become hazardous and travel become unsafe. Conditions are expected to deteriorate in the overnight hours. Voluntarily evacuate single-story buildings for higher ground or inland while travel remains safe, or move to the second floor or higher in a sturdy building. If you feel unsafe, move now.
